“I, have made fire”

This March, Troop 84 took a trip to Camp Falling Rock for Camping 303. Scouts learned many skills and had lots of fun.

We started off Saturday with some dutch oven cooking for breakfast. Then we went into some stations where we taught Knots, Firebuilding and First Aid.

Next after lunch we did another set of 45 minute stations which included knife axe and saw use, map and compass use and lashings. We followed the stations with a lashings relay race which was won by the Tomahawk Patrol.

After that the patrols went on a 1 mile long orienteering course set up by the adults. The Tomahawk Patrol was the fastest, doing the whole course in 27 minutes.

Following dinner and dessert we went down to scoutcraft for the final patrol competition, scoutmasters tea. The patrols each had to make a fire, burn a rope and boil water. The Tomahaw patrol finished again first, sweeping all 3 competitions at the Campout.
